Typos in date words are forgiven, and words that only look like dates — “sun cream”, “2nd draft” — stay in the title.

What is Freely?

Freely is a free to-do list and daily planner for your phone and laptop. You type a task the way you'd say it — “pay rent on the 1st of every month” — and Freely files it on the right day, at the right time, repeating if it should. My Day plans today in morning, afternoon and evening, Upcoming shows everything with a date, and lists can be shared View only or with editing rights. It works offline, has no ads and no tracking, and runs in any modern browser.

How it works

From a thought to done, in four steps

No setup and no projects to plan first. Start with one task; Freely keeps the busywork out of the way.

  1. Capture

Type it the way you'd say it: “call the dentist tomorrow 3pm”. The day, the time, the repeat and the list come out of the words.

  2. Plan your day

Add tasks to My Day and drag each into morning, afternoon or evening. Whatever you don't finish carries into tomorrow in the same part.

  3. Share

Share a list, a single task or your whole Upcoming. You choose what the other person may do, and for how long.

  4. Done

Tick it off, and a repeating task makes its next one. Ticked by mistake? Untick it with one more tap. A deleted task waits 30 days in Recently deleted.

Features

Everything a calm day needs, and nothing it doesn't

Tasks live in lists. Every task can carry a date, a time, a repeat, notes, steps, photos, a colour, a priority and people. The rest is how you look at them.

  • Pay rent on the 1st of every month

Pay rent 1st of the month Monthly Finance

  • Team meeting friday 4pm to 5:30pm

Team meeting Friday 4:00 PM until 5:30 PM Work

Plain words in, a planned task out

Days, times, ranges and repeats — “every other day”, “every weekday”, “the 1st of every month” — are read as you type, typos and all. Name a list and the task files itself there.

Upcoming and Calendar

Everything with a date, soonest first. Overdue tasks sit on top with Move to today, Date TBD waits at the bottom, never overdue, and on the Calendar you drag a task onto another day.

Habits beside your day

Habits for every day or for the weekdays you choose, ticked per day and shown at the top of My Day.

More about the habit tracker

Notes with a drawing pad

Pin a note, give it a colour, sketch on it, and link it to a task — a date written in the note flows into the task.

Reminders at the right time

Give a task a time and Freely reminds you: on the website while Freely is open, and in the phone apps, now being prepared, as a notification even with Freely closed.

Work: first things first

Keep the week's work in a Work list and sort it in the Priority Matrix by what is urgent and what is important. Drag a card from box to box — the four boxes stay four boxes on a phone.

  • Standups that repeat every weekday, meetings with a start and an end time
  • Assign a task to someone, and it shows in their Assigned to me
  • Teams that can chat together and be assigned work as one

Personal: one calm plan for today

My Day splits today into morning, afternoon and evening. Nothing is placed until you drag it there, anything unfinished carries into tomorrow in the same part, and today's habits sit at the top.

  • A ring that fills as you finish, and a small celebration when the day is done
  • Swipe a task to the right to add it to My Day
  • Suggestions of what to pull in from your lists

Groceries: one list, shared your way

Share a list, a single task or your whole Upcoming with the people you live with, by their e-mail or a nickname you've saved. You decide what they can do and for how long, and the database holds them to it, not only the screen.

  • View only

The default. They see it; nothing changes without you.

  • Edit & add

They can tick, edit and add tasks.

  • + delete

Edit & add, plus removing tasks.

  • End date

A week, a month, three months, a date you choose, or none.

Only you can start, change or end a share; they can leave whenever they like.

School: every deadline on its day

Type “biology essay friday” and it lands on Friday, filed under School. Break big work into steps, see every date in Upcoming and on the Calendar, and start a focus timer from any task.

  • Steps inside a task, with a bar that fills as you tick them
  • Notes linked to the task they belong to
  • No date yet? Date TBD keeps it in Upcoming, never overdue

Calm by design

Private, and hard to lose

A to-do list only works if you trust it. Here is what Freely does to earn that.

Works offline, syncs when it can

Open Freely with no connection and your tasks are there. Changes wait on the device and are sent, in order, when the connection returns, and your other devices catch up. If the server ever refuses a change, the screen says so.

☁️ Offline · 3 waitingthenSaved

Recently deleted, for 30 days

Deleting a task offers Undo, and deleted tasks wait in Recently deleted for 30 days on every device, where Restore puts them back. Ticked something by mistake? Tap it again.

No ads, no tracking, only who you choose

No analytics or tracking scripts, and your data is never sold or shared. The database itself checks every request, so only you and the people you share or assign tasks to can read them.

Yours to take with you

Back up, in Settings, downloads your tasks, lists, notes and habits as one file, any time; Restore brings one back in without making copies.

Questions

Questions, answered

Is Freely free?

Yes. Freely costs nothing to use on the website: there is no card to enter and there are no ads. You sign up with your e-mail address.

How does Freely understand dates in plain words?

It reads the day, the time, an end time and a repeat straight from the sentence you type: “call the dentist tomorrow 3pm”, “team meeting friday 4pm to 5:30pm”, “pay rent on the 1st of every month”. Typos in date words are forgiven, and words that only look like dates, such as “sun cream” or “2nd draft”, stay in the title.

Can I share a list without letting people change it?

Yes. Every share is View only unless you choose Edit & add or + delete, and you can give it an end date so it stops on its own. You can share a list, a single task or your whole Upcoming, and the database enforces those rights, not only the screen.

Do my phone and my laptop stay in sync?

Yes. Sign in on both and the same tasks, lists, notes and habits are on each. Changes reach your other devices within moments when both are online, and catch up later when one wasn't.

Is there an app for iPhone, Android or desktop?

The iPhone, Android and desktop apps are being prepared. Today Freely runs in the browser on any phone, tablet or laptop, with nothing to install, and the apps will open the same account and the same tasks.
